Meet the Staff

DONALD E. NAPIER, Owner and Publisher

As a former newspaper publisher and editor in middle Tennessee and the owner/operator of a full-service Napieradvertising agency for over 30 years, Don Napier has a unique perspective on media services and public relations.

Don has been involved in the founding and managing of many publications since 1976, when he established a newspaper in his hometown of Celina. “Crossville Life,” originally knows as “House & Home” magazine, is his latest print venture.

In addition to being an editor or publisher for various publications, Don has been a staff member of multiple daily or semi-weekly newspapers, and has been a correspondent for larger metropolitan dailies. The main focus of his past 20 years has been advertising and public relations, and he is also the owner of Napier Media Services, a full-service PR and media relations firm. Don also studied art at the University of Memphis right after graduating high school, and has designed hundreds of logos for businesses and political candidates over the past three decades.

His writing focus these days is centered on his popular “It’s a Wonderful Life” column in the magazine, food reviews, biographies of famous Americans and writing profiles for WWII veterans.

Dating back to his first newspaper job, Don has been in the business since 1970.

Heather Parsons, Office Manager

Heather Parsons joined the staff of Napier Media Services about three years ago to help manage the day-to-day operations of the Public Relations firm and Magazine it produces, Crossville Life.

In addition to handling some advertising clients, Heather heads up the direct mail division of Napier Media, which is part of their primary marketing focus they provide for commercial clients. Her knowledge of complicated mailing regulations is a major asset when dealing with the U.S. Post Office.

She is a valuable asset to both Napier Media and Crossville Life and the success of either.

She is married to Jason Parsons and they are the parents of a daughter, Haley, age 9.

JOE JENKINS, Distribution Manager

A former gospel singer  Joe Jenkins has been with the magazine since our first edition in 2004.

Joe is the distribution manager for Crossville Life, handling both the rack and counter distribution and also coordinating the mailing of several thousand copies six times a year.

Joe hails originally from Ohio, where he retired as an employee with the City of Cincinnati, and where he was a part of the gospel singing group, the Harptones, well-known in the region. Ten years ago, he moved to Cumberland County and now resides in Fairfield Glade.

Contributors to Crossville Life

Freelance writer Kevin Donaldson is a regular with the magazine. He is a veteran newspaper man having worked as a former newspaper editor and sports editor. He and Don Napier worked together in the 1970s and 1980s on different ventures. He lives in Celina, Tennessee where he operates a public relations firm.

Freelance photographer Walt Riches, has worked with Napier Media on many marketing projects and has been a regular contributor to Crossville Life as well. He continues to shoot action shots at Tennessee Tech football and basketball games for the magazine is a “must-have” for any successful marketing campaign.  Originally from New Hampshire, Walt is a very talented photographer.

Graphic Designer and pre-press specialist Jonathan K. Weaver is the graphic paginator for Crossville Life. He has been associated with Napier Media and Crossville Life for the last 9 years. Jonathan publishes the very popular Fairfield Glade Directory, a publication he has had for many years. He also publishes a very informative Medical Directory and has associated websites for them. “Jonathan is my nephew and has worked for me on and off for several years. He is a very talented artist,” Napier said.

Bob Weaver owns a company in Cookeville called Weaver Web and Print. He has worked for Napier Media and Crossville Life for nearly 10 years, keeping their web site up and going and helping build sites for marketing customers. Don and Bob have known each other for 50 years. He keeps all of the computers up and running smoothly at Napier Media in Crossville.

Rebekah K. Bohannon Beeler is a well-known journalist in the East and Middle Tennessee area. Her Tenn-I-See entertainment column appears regularly in Crossville Life Magazine. She is a freelance writer and songwriter.

Ken Taylor is the Executive Director of Hospice of Cumberland County and has written a personal column in Crossville Life since its inception.. Ken is a talented writer and keeps us all informed about the inner workings of Hospice and the great work they do in our community.
