12 Questions with Valerie Hale

Valerie is the daughter of Carson Stout (deceased) and Peggy and Jim Hall.

She is married to Scot Hale, who is the local manager for Frontier Communications. They have been married since 1991. They are the parents of Lee Hale, 12, who is a student at South Cumberland Elementary, where he plays basketball.  Valerie is a graduate of Tennessee Tech University and before joining the city, she was employed by TAP Publishing and before that, Eye Centers of Tennessee. Her hobbies include watch Lady Vol basketball, exercising, learning to play golf and quilt and playing bunco. She is also the proud aunt of Lexi and Carson Stout.

1. What was your first job?

Wendy’s, when I was 16 years old

2. What do you enjoy doing when not working? 

It depends on the time of year.  In the summer & fall, I enjoy camping.  In the winter and spring, I enjoy watching Lady Vols basketball on tv or in person when I’m not attending one of my son’s games.

3. What are your two favorite movies?

I really don’t watch that many movies but most recently I enjoyed True Grit.

4. What is your favorite holiday (explain why)?

4th of July because it’s my birthday

5. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I don’t really remember, maybe a teacher.

6. What kind of television do you record?

Reality/trash television, such as Real Housewives of Orange County, American Idol, and The Bachelor

7. Who is a person from history you’d like to meet?

John F. Kennedy, he had such a charismatic personality and the ability to bring people together.

8. What book would you recommend to your friends? 

The Help.  It’s an emotional, but funny book about a strong-willed young girl taking chances to write a book.  Her rewards for taking the chances were more than just getting the book published.

9. Are you a cat or a dog person?

BOTH.  I have two Boston Terriers, Bo & Dottie.  And two cats-Chris Lofton & Rebel.

10. Who or what inspires you, and why?

Quiet time alone in my house inspires and re-energizes me.

11. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?

My family

12. What is the best Vacation you ever had? Where and why?

Scot and I went to Las Vegas a few years ago and that was probably the best vacation I’ve ever had. There’s something for everyone in Las Vegas.
