Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play at Playhouse

Triple Play is led by consummate musician, arranger and writer, Chris Brubeck.

Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play featuring Peter “Madcat” Ruth, and Joel Brown, will appear at the Cumberland County Playhouse on Thursday, April 7.  The 7:30 concert is sponsored by BB & T/Legge Insurance.

Triple Play is led by consummate musician, arranger and writer, Chris Brubeck.  Son of the jazz piano legend Dave Brubeck, Chris has been performing professionally for over three decades.  He mixes his expert musicianship on guitar, trombone and piano with humor and a relaxed approach as leader of the group.  His smooth vocal style is never overpowering, but a perfect complement to the music.

Peter “Madcat” Ruth, a legend in his own time as one of the world’s best and most versatile harmonica players, produces unbelievable textures and sounds on the instrument.  Add to that guitarist Joel Brown, who has national and international recognition as a jazz, blues and classical virtuoso.  His prowess on guitar enhances the overall sound of the trio.

Whether you like blues, jazz, or folk, Triple Play’s music is an amalgamation of a lot of different styles that relate to just fun, feel-good music. This is sure to be an event to remember!

“Triple Play was rollicking good fun.”—Los Angeles Times
