Performing Arts Alliance of Rural Tennessee (PAART) will be opening their 2012 season on Friday night, January 6, with the internationally acclaimed pianist Thomas Pandolfi in a program entitled “Into the Night with Gershwin”.  Pandolfi is an exciting virtuoso who, with each passing season, is becoming more and more sought after by audiences, and showered with superlatives by critics for his passionate artistry and amazing technique.  A reviewer wrote, after a recent performance at the Fredonia Opera House in New York, “Pandolfi’s technique is brilliant. Every note, however fleeting, was cleanly and clearly stated, and themes rolled out of supporting structures, as clear as could be…the climax of the concert was the famed Rhapsody in Blue (in a solo arrangement created by Gershwin himself), performed with thrilling virtuosity. It was jazzy, it was classical, it was Gershwin, wonderfully done.”

Pandolfi performs internationally with some of the world’s leading orchestras and collaborated with renown conductors. A highlight of Pandolfi’s 2009-10 season is the world premiere of British composer Simon Proctor’s “James Bond” piano concerto in London.  . A graduate of The Juilliard School, Pandolfi earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees as a scholarship student.

The “Into the Night with Gershwin” performance will begin at 7 pm central time on January 6th at the Palace Theatre, 72 South Main Street, in Crossville.  Tickets for the performance are available by phone at the Cumberland County Playhouse box office 931-484-5000 or online at www.ccplayhouse.com.  Prices for the evening performance are $5 for students and $10 for adults plus any ticketing service charges that may apply.  As always, tickets are also available at the beautiful, historic Palace Theatre.  And while they last, you may receive a beautiful holiday ornament designed by artist Nancy Strait with each purchase of two tickets.  What a perfect gift for the music lover on your list, the perfect hostess gift or a special treat for yourself.  The ornaments are available with tickets purchased at the Shanks Center for the Arts at 140 North Main Street and at the Palace Theatre while they last.
