J.W. Brown, well-known Crossville businessman and community leader, has been honored by the Tennessee Hospital Association with its prestigious Meritorious Service Award for Governance at a recent meeting.
Brown served as the chairman of the Cumberland Medical Center board of directors for more 43 years. “Mr. Brown’s priority was always doing what was best for the hospital and the community,” said Dr. Barry Wagner, Chief Executive Officer of CMC. “With his leadership and healthcare expertise, he led the hospital through many difficult times, and we are thankful for his unwavering loyalty and dedication.”
In addition to his service at CMC, Brown was Chairman and President of Highland Federal Savings and Loan Assoc. and Chairman of the board of the First National Bank of Crossville. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a graduate banking degree from Louisiana State University. He and wife Diane Brown reside in the Tansi Community.
