From PAART
CROSSVILLE-The Performing Arts Alliance of Rural Tennessee (PAART) on June 3rd will offer the extraordinary opportunity to participate in a guitar playing workshop with one of the top guitarists of our time, Australian guitarist/singer/songwriter Geoff Achison.
This will be an afternoon to remember. Spend two hours in the intimate setting of the beautiful, historic Palace Theatre getting tips and instruction from a musician who was named one of the Top Ten Hottest New Guitarists by Guitar Player Magazine in 2008. Debbie Mendenhall of PAART says “… to offer a guitar clinic with Geoff Achison is an exciting way for PAART to fulfill our mission of tying educational opportunities with great performances.”
At the age of 11, this internationally-acclaimed guitarist discovered an old guitar under the stairwell of his family home. Looking back, this must seem to Geoff Achison like one of those life-changing moments. In the isolation of his rural Australian home he taught himself how to play, developing a style uniquely Achison.
Early influences by the recordings of Eric Clapton, Freddie King, Albert Collins and other fueled his love for the blues. Over the years he has racked up a slew of awards that recognize his blues finesse as well as he talents as a songwriter, singer and his production of numerous critically acclaimed albums.
The workshop begins at 3 pm central at the Palace Theatre. The fee for the clinic is $40 and includes a coupon for one ticket to the Geoff Achison & the Souldiggers evening performance.
Registration forms can be found on PAART’s website – www.performingartsalliance.org – or at the Palace Theatre, 72 South Main Street, Crossville 931-261-8016.
