The Silver Whistle to close April 15 at Playhouse

SILVER WHISTLE CAST- Back Row L to R: Bob Ochsenrider & Skip Britton. Front Row L to R: Terri Ritter, Weslie Webster, Carol Irvin & Judy Murphy.

The Silver Whistle, a comedy by Robert McEnroe, and sponsored by Uplands Retirement Village at Pleasant Hill, will come to a close on April 15.

“Due to the overwhelming response to this show, and with remaining performances close to being sold out, we have added two performances, with the possibility of adding a third,” noted box office manager Mandy Dearman. Newly added dates are March 30 and April 15 at 2:30.

Set in a church retirement home, the citizens are confused, and then rejuvenated by newcomer Oliver Erwenter, played by Jason Ross (Duck Hunter Shoots Angel). Erwenter claims to be 77, but looks much younger…he claims to have a youth potion! He tries to show each of the folks that one is only as old as he feels.

The Silver Whistle was directed by Paul Crabtree on Broadway, and one of his first choices for his new Playhouse in ’66. Director Jim Crabtree states, “This is my first time directing a play that has been part of my family heritage for 60 years.”

Currently at the Playhouse is Mitch Albom’s inspiring memoir Tuesdays with Morrie, rated G and sponsored by Dr. Stanley Bise, through May 12; and the amazing Playhouse Kids in Paul Crabtree’s The Perils of Pinocchio, rated G and through April 1, sponsored by Philip and Jane Burnett/Bean, Smith & Burnett Attorneys along with Theater and Education sponsor Spirit Broadband.
