City of Crossville and Fairfield Glade prepare for Golf Capital of Tennessee Women’s Open

CROSSVILLE-The Golf Capital of Tennessee Women’s Open Championship is set to return to Stonehenge Golf Club on Fairfield Glade, July 21-23.

This year will mark the third consecutive year at Stonehenge and 8th year in the Crossville and Cumberland County area thanks to its title sponsor, The City of Crossville.

The championships popularity continues to rise with players coming from as far away as California and Canada.

The 2010 finale featured professional Danielle Downy of Clearwater, FL edging out amateur Margaret Shirley from Athens, GA in a two-hole playoff. Hundreds of local patrons showed up on the final day to witness one of the most exciting finishes in the championships history, ultimately breaking the record for final day attendance at a Tennessee state championship.

The Golf Capital of Tennessee Women’s Open is conducted by the Tennessee Golf Association.  Headquartered at Golf House Tennessee in Franklin, the TGA conducts 15 Championships annually.
