Kids’ Fishing Derby set for June 11

CROSSVILLE-The 12th annual Kids’ Fishing Derby, hosted by the City of Crossville and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, is set for Saturday, June 11 at Meadow Park Lake.

The event, which coincides with the Tennessee Free Fishing Day, is open to youths ages 5-15 and includes awards and prize drawings in three age groups:

• Division 1 – Ages 5 to 8,

• Division 2 – Ages 9 to 12, and

• Division 3 – Ages 13 to 15.

Trophies are awarded to total weight winners in each division for Big Fish, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Here’s the schedule for the day:

• 6:30-8:30 a.m. – FREE registration

• 7:15 – Welcome

• 7:15-8:15 a.m. – Ages 5-8 fishing

• 8:15 a.m. – Ages 9-15 fishing

• 10 a.m. – Final weigh-in

• 11 a.m. – Lunch is served

• Noon – Presentation of awards and prize drawings.

Participants must bring a parent or guardian (no exceptions), along with a fishing pole, tackle, bait or other needed items. Some bait will be provided.

The event is sponsored by the City of Crossville, First National Bank of Tennessee, Flowers Bakery, Mom’s Tackle Box, Plateau Longbeards Chapter NWTF, Joe White, the TWRA, Veolia and Faye Portable Buildings.
